The Institute for Sexual Minority Studies and Services, OUTreach, and The Landing welcome you to University of Alberta Rainbow Welcome and Pride Week! On this website you will find out everything you need to know about Rainbow Welcome events and Pride Week, including our schedule of events, featured activities, and ways that you can volunteer or donate to ensure that these events continue to remain colourful and vibrant expressions of our diverse campus community.
Ultimately, University of Alberta Rainbow Welcome and Pride Week are about engaging our campus communities to come together to collectively build and support safe, caring, and respectful campus environments for sexual and gender minority and allied students, staff, and faculty. The phrase 'sexual and gender minority' includes LGBTTQQPIA+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Two-Spirit, Queer, Questioning, Pansexual, Intersex, Asexual and more) communities and individuals, as well as their friends, family and loved ones.
It is also one key way in which we help to collectively live out our campus commitment expressed in the vision of Dare to Discover, which is “to inspire the human spirit through outstanding achievements in learning, discovery, and citizenship in a creative community” and to foster “a diverse, yet inclusive, dynamic collegial community that welcomes change and seizes opportunity with passion and creativity.”
Rainbow Welcome and UAlberta Pride Week would not be possible without the phenomenal support from a wide variety of campus and community stakeholders who are committed to help ensure Pride Week continues to become an important, vibrant, and enduring part of the institutional fabric of the University of Alberta.
Save the dates! UAlberta Pride Week will be held February 28th to March 7th, 2015! More updates to come...
